MVHR Systems

Breathe cleaner, fresher air all year round with a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system. These whole-house ventilation systems remove stale, humid air from your home and replace it with filtered, fresh air - without losing valuable heat in the process.

At Wells Renewables, we supply and install MVHR systems across Kent and Sussex, helping homeowners and developers meet modern energy standards while creating healthier, more comfortable living spaces.

Cozy Living Room

What Is a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery System?

MVHR, also known as heat recovery ventilation (HRV), is a central ventilation system that extracts warm, damp air from areas like kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, then recovers that heat and uses it to warm the fresh air brought into living spaces like bedrooms and lounges.

This process ensures:

  • Continuous airflow

  • Filtered, fresh air

  • Minimal heat loss

  • Condensation control

  • Improved indoor air quality

The result? A cleaner, healthier and more energy-efficient home.

How Does an MVHR System Work?

Bathroom

1. Extracting stale, moist air

Warm, moist air is drawn out of rooms where humidity builds up, like bathrooms and kitchens.

2. Transferring the heat

The air passes through a heat exchanger that recovers up to 90% of the heat energy.

The system works in four simple steps:

3. Bringing in fresh, filtered air

Cool, filtered outside air is drawn into the unit, warmed by the recovered heat and distributed through ducts to living spaces.

Bedroom

4. Continuous circulation

The process runs 24/7, keeping your indoor air fresh and your heat where it belongs.

Benefits of MVHR Systems

By recovering heat from outgoing air, MVHR systems reduce the energy needed to keep your home warm - making them ideal for low-energy homes and passive house ventilation setups.

By managing moisture levels, MVHR systems help prevent condensation, mould and damp - especially in bathrooms and kitchens.
